The Laboratory for Myasthenia Gravis Research is focused on therapeutic and biomarker development for myasthenia gravis. The Laboratory is an integral part of MGNet, the NIH-funded Rare Disease Clinical Research Network and is one of 23 such centers.
The Senior Research Associate will support several projects related to complement therapeutics and targeted B cell depletion therapies. This experienced researcher carries out research/development activities by designing and conducting experiments in a controlled laboratory setting. Using a wide degree of creativity and latitude, the core responsibilities of this position are to make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results, with limited guidance from the Principal Investigators. This position compiles results and prepares technical reports and documentation of outcomes. This role is familiar with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures, and can perform a variety of research tasks. Experimental methods include but are not limited to, immunoblotting, Immunoprecipitation, polyacrylamide and agarose gel electrophoresis, qPCR, and immunofluorescence microscopy. Rodent models of disease and confocal microscopy are also used. This position works closely with the laboratory director and provides guidance to less experienced staff.
Qualified candidates will hold a master’s degree and 3 years of direct experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position
- Background in immunology is critical.
- Experience demonstrating a background in immunology with expertise in FACS analysis, human cell culture, and molecular biology.
- Experience in animal husbandry, rodent models of disease, and confocal microscopy is desired.
- Excellence in oral and written communication skills are critical.
