The American Association of Immunologists (AAI), a non-profit professional biomedical research association, seeks a motivated and intellectually inquisitive individual to provide scientific expertise to the AAI public affairs program. Duties include researching, analyzing, and responding to relevant issues affecting biomedical research, the National Institutes of Health, and other federal agencies, as well as assisting with various AAI science policy and advocacy programs and activities. This position supports the Director of Public Policy and Government Affairs, the members of the AAI Committee on Public Affairs, and other AAI staff in developing scientific and policy positions that convey the views, concerns, and interests of the AAI membership. Responsibilities include interacting with federal agency officials and staff, communicating with other professional societies, and writing content for various AAI publications. Local and minimal out-of-town travel, including to the AAI annual meetings, is required.
Education Required
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in immunology or a related scientific discipline.
Experience Required
Candidates must have an interest in science policy; previous policy experience not required but is a plus. Excellent analytical, written, verbal, and organizational skills are necessary to be successful in this position. Postdoctoral research or other relevant post-graduate experience preferred.
